# Exciting Interactive Experiences
One of the highlights of the center is the opportunity to experience renewable energy up close. Visitors can explore models of hydropower plants, wind turbines, and solar panels and try out for themselves how these systems generate electricity. Interactive touchscreens and simulations allow for testing and understanding of one's own energy generation scenarios and how various factors - from weather conditions to grid integration - influence efficiency.

In addition, realistic reproductions of hydropower plants illustrate the functioning of this technology. A simulation shows how hydropower is used to drive turbines and generate electricity. Especially for children and school groups, this practical approach to energy generation is an exciting experience.

# The Significance of Hydropower in Wales
A central theme at the Statkraft Visitor Center is the role of hydropower in the region. Wales is known for its rivers and reservoirs, which provide excellent conditions for sustainable energy generation. Visitors learn about how hydropower plants work, their environmental impacts, and how modern technologies help increase efficiency and minimize environmental impact.

Insights into existing hydropower plants operated by Statkraft in Wales are particularly impressive. Through films and virtual tours, visitors can take a behind-the-scenes look and see how electricity is generated from natural water sources.

# Sustainability and Environmental Awareness
In addition to energy generation, the center also addresses the impacts of climate change and the necessity of a sustainable future. The exhibition highlights current developments in environmental policy, new technologies for greener energy supply, and ways to reduce one's own carbon footprint.

Visitors receive practical tips on optimizing their energy consumption and integrating more sustainable lifestyles. The challenges associated with the energy transition are also discussed - from storing renewable energy to grid infrastructure.

# Who Would Find a Visit Interesting?
The Statkraft Visitor Center is suitable for a wide range of audiences. Whether families, school groups, university students, or professionals in the energy industry - the center offers exciting content for every interest. It is particularly beneficial for schools as a rewarding destination to promote awareness of sustainability and renewable energy at an early stage.

Cafe is open but none of the interactive displays work it seems. Why was it shut for so long?

It was closed 🙄 Did give us the opportunity to park and explore the area though, and visit the butterfly place

Recently we visited the Rheidol Power Station with our 10yr old Grandsons. Our guide Barbara gave an excellent explanation of the history and process which helped the boys realise the practical use of local natural resources. The tour pre booking process is very easy. Kirsty was most helpful in the Visitors Centre which has a wonderful cafeteria including delicious cakes.

The tour is free and worth a visit if you are passing. Very forward thinking facility considering it was built over 50 years ago. The tour lasts about 40 min and covers most aspects of the plant. However do not expect a bus tour which I expected. You stay within the one building which isn't that big. Can be difficult for small children as there are no interactive displays to keep then occupied.
